What I Love: Polka Dots

Posted on

Why I Love Them

-They are classic, timeless and oh so feminine.

-They are a statement print and come in different sizes (so you can go big or little, depending on your personality).

-They are incredibly versatile and can be easily mixed with other prints.

-They are fun, youthful and completely whimsical, but can be dressed up appropriate for the work environment.

How To Wear Them

-When paired with leather, you get a feminine rocker look.

I Married An Old Man

Hop on over to Life As Mom to see my post about choosing a summer dress that’s perfect for your exact body type!

When I got married, I knew my husband was an old man. He’s only three months older than me, but he’s an old fart at heart. Although he looks younger than he is, he listens to NPR, watches PBS shows (the Frugal Gourmet is on constant repeat at our house) and naps on the couch like a regular ole octogenarian. He constantly complains about body aches and critiques the way TV shows are written like it’s a sport. I guess I’m lucky that I won’t be surprised with a change in his behavior in fifty years. At least he doesn’t LOOK like an eighty-year-old, although I wouldn’t mind getting a senior citizen discount this early in the game.

Siren Song

Have you ever listened to the Joy the Baker Podcast? Joy and Tracy are absolutely hilarious and as they always discuss “totally important unimportant things”. In an episode awhile back, they discussed “siren songs”. These would be things that you know you shouldn’t do, but for some strange reason feel utterly compelled to do. One person stated she’d like to “run her fingers through a stranger’s beard”. Ew! I’ve been thinking of what my “siren songs” are and here’s what I came up with:

-ram my car into the person in front of me

-make a yelling sound in a quiet room

-go around talking in a different accent

-correct grown-ups (who should know better) who use incorrect grammar

-stick my hand down the garbage disposal (Aaaaccckkk!!! I’m totally afraid of being near it!)

-do cartwheels in a public place

-pull stray hairs off random strangers backs

Have you ever thought about this? What would be your “siren song”?
