What I Love: Summer Dresses

Posted on

Why I Love Them

-As the heat rises, they are perfect for keeping you cool.

-Takes no thought, just pick a dress, shoes & necklace and you have a complete outfit.

-Totally feminine, even for just running errands.

How To Wear Them

-Choose a flowy material that isn’t too clingy (helps for airflow when the temp rises near 100 degrees).

-Belt it loosely to accentuate your waistline.

-Pair with ballet flats or sandals for a dressy casual look.

-Works well with a braided up-do or high ponytail.

Summertime And The Living Is Easy

I am FINALLY on summer break, which is really good because for a while there I seriously felt like my brain was melting…no joke. The past two days of vacation have been so joyfully full of fun things/getting stuff done around the house that they have felt more like a week, which for me is just peachy. Here are a list of my favorite things about summer:

-the smell of suntan lotion (I might be creeping my kids out by how much I’m sniffing them, but gosh dang it’s the best smell in the world!)

-the whir of a fan motor (the best white noise out there)

-long days (we are going to bed so late because we just keep forgetting and not realizing how late it is because the sun is STILL up…love!!)

-the lack of laundry (my boys are living in their board shorts)

and

-ice cream, ice cream, ice cream (okay, I know that last one isn’t specifically for summer, but it tastes so much better when you have to lick it up really quickly because it’s melting in the heat)

What are your favorite things about summer?

The Californians

Have you seen the SNL skit “The Californians”? It’s a mock soap opera, in which “The Californians” talk in this completely over exaggerated “valley girl” accent about directions to places and where the traffic would be horrible, etc. I myself as a true California girl think it’s hilarious. Completely wrong, but still hilarious. And I can’t stop talking like them. I am going around the house calling my husband “Stewart” and asking people “What are you doing here?”. I’ve discovered that the funnest thing to say so far in this accent is “Cheesecake Factory”. Try it. You can’t help but smile.

Hope your Monday is fabulous!
