Very Jane Awesomeness

Posted on

I first heard about veryjane.com from Sarah when we met for her style consultation.

And I kinda wish I had never heard about it because I could have saved myself a lot of money. ūüėČ

(All these necklaces came from their site! And all were less than $15!)

Very Jane sends out a daily email (only one I promise) with a LOT of awesome things. These “things” range from jewelry, clothes (mostly women’s, kids & baby’s), home items (such as table runners or pillows) and even photo edits for purchase. There are different sellers similar to etsy and they usually have limited items, so if you see something you like, don’t think it over for too long or it might be sold out before you make a decision.

Here is a sample of what their daily email looks like.

Everything is fairly inexpensive (it’s rare that I see something over $20) and sometimes sellers even have “blow out” sales where they sell any items that they have left over at a discounted rate, so you are able to get things even cheaper. It’s a great site for buying gifts and they always have a TON of amazing jewelry offered.

I liked the green skirt above so much, I bought a blue one for myself and my cousin (for her birthday) when they came up for sale again!

Hop on over to veryjane.com and sign up for their daily email. I promise that you won’t be disappointed. Just please don’t blame me when your savings starts rapidly decreasing.

Radio Shame

A while back my husband left me some lyrics to a song written and taped to our bathroom mirror.¬†Jesse had heard it on the radio, liked the song & lyrics and wrote them down really quickly not knowing the band that performed them.¬†They were really sweet words, almost poetic, but they also sounded super familiar to me. So I typed them into trusty Google and realized that they were the lyrics to a One Direction song. Now my husband isn’t incredibly snobby about his music preferences and enjoys a lot of different types, but boy bands can not be found on his playlists. So, to add to his radio shame, this past week he was listening to the radio again and heard another song he liked, only to find out it was…Katy Perry. Ha! I might never let that one go.

I have a problem. I CANNOT watch a movie without crying. And it doesn’t matter what kind of movie: drama, comedy, romance or kids film, I lose it. In fact, a couple weeks ago, we took our sons to see “Despicable Me 2” and I was bawling at the end. And before you ask if I’m pregnant, the answer is no. Unfortunately I can’t blame this on hormones. Nope, just total lack of emotional control. Ugh.

I just realized that it’ll be five years this October that we purchased our house. And for some reason that number stuck out to me.

Five years.

I remember when we were getting engaged and picking out a ring that I said to myself, “In five years, we will upgrade to a nicer band.” When we bought our house a year and a half later, we both discussed that “in five years we would sell or have enough money to rent our house and move to a bigger house”. And in only six months, our first born will be five years old.

It’s so funny how our expectations change and how we think that we will be somewhere in life or think we know how it will go and then realize that you are barely in control of anything. Growing up is a strange and odd world and it’s almost silly to have presumptions about how your life will turn out. We still haven’t upgraded my ring or our house and I might die of shock when Liam turns five, but I am happier than I ever could have imagined. I am thankful for the way our family is growing together and blessed to have a God that is control of our lives and future. My priorities have changed and I’m grateful now just for the time to enjoy it all.

Wonder where we will be in another five years?

If At First You Don’t Succeed…

This Thursday I put on this cute baby doll dress as part of the Coast to Coast Challenge.

When I went inside, I realized I was so out of it, that I hadn’t even put earrings on. I quickly found some I liked and then remembered how I don’t like how the bodice of this dress gapes, so I added a brown vest I own. When I looked in the mirror, I liked the resulting outfit so much more than just the dress.

And so I asked my husband if he would take my picture again. Yes, ladies, he’s a keeper.

Layering adds a certain element to an outfit and allows you to change the feel. My original look was very girly, but I love how the vest sorta “hardened” the whole outfit.

Happy Fashion Friday! (I almost missed it!)

Last week, I took the boys to get a haircut. I noticed one of the stylists wearing this adorable shirt with colorful birds on it. I gushed at how much I loved her shirt and asked her where she got it. She responded, “Target. No, the Loft!” In my sneaky stalkerish ways, I immediately got on my phone to find the shirt online. I found it rather quickly, but was super bummed that it was out of stock. Not one to take no for an answer, I contacted my friend, who happens to be a manager for a Loft. She said that they sold out of them quickly, but that she could find one in another store for me. She found it for me and it was 60% off AND they shipped it to my house. All of this before we even left the salon! And all it took was a little persistence, my iPhone and one rock solid connection that hooked me up! Woot!!!!
