The Outtakes

When I started this blog, I never really thought about the fact that I would have to have my picture taken almost every day.

About 90% of the time, that duty of “cameraman” falls on my husband. He is a brilliant, wonderful husband and I love him so much, but there are times that he would rather be doing something else other than taking my picture. I totally understand.

During those times, he just snaps away hoping he’ll get a good one.

These are some of the outtakes that occur because of that.

And I just needed an excuse to remind you of what a nerd I really am. 😉

Looks like I’m gonna pass out and fall over. Ha!

He really enjoys continuously snapping pictures until I reach my camera.

And almost every day at least one of my children has to wiggle their way into the picture somehow.

This one was actually one I had Liam take before my friend Jenny took over.

Feel free to add a caption to this one. Ridiculous.

Sometimes when you’re too busy taking a picture, your child decides to climb up on top of the picnic table.

Hope that made you smile!

We started the morning off super lazy. Did some reading practice on starfall.com.

Read some books in bed. Am I the only one who gets immense pleasure out of reading “Green Eggs & Ham” as fast as they can? I’m looking to set a world record.

My incredibly not-spontaneous husband suggested we take a last-minute trip up to Julian, a lovely mountain town about an hour away from us. We went in search of snow.

photo 4

Unfortunately there was no snow, but it was cooooooooold. We spent time walking around tiny bookstores.

Tried on some silly hats.

Got a whole apple pie and ate straight out of the pan. That’s always been a dream of mine. I guess I can check that off my bucket list now.

Photo taken by my oldest son.

Lollipops are an excellent way of keeping little ones quiet on long car drives. 😉

When we got home, my husband’s real estate license was there waiting for us. Yahoo!

And while the kids napped, I snuck over to the gym to go running.

It was an absolutely perfect day and the best part was…our potty-training-two-year-old went the entire day with no accidents. Woot! Consider me one happy mama.

Retail Therapy

photo 4

Yesterday my beautiful cousin, Emily, drove all the way down from Orange County just to go shopping with me.

We spent hours (I’m not exaggerating) in the thrift store scouring the racks.

photo 3

We tried on clothes and took pictures of each other since there was no dressing room.

photo 1

I love how Emily takes an equal amount of joy with me in seeing the possibility of second hand things. In making up outfits with new-to-us items and trying to find the pretty in “pretty ugly” things (like a skirt with embroidered sail boats on the bottom).

photo 2

We walked around like we were the only two people in the store laughing and taking ridiculous pictures. It was so refreshing and such therapy to completely be myself with someone who loves me and enjoys the same things as me.

And here is Emily’s fabulous outfit that she wore yesterday. A+ for layering.

What do you enjoy doing that makes you feel new and refreshed?
