Oh the possibilities…

When I was in elementary school, I remember in math they would give us four or so numbers and have us write down all the combinations there could be. For example, 4-2-8-1, could make 4-2-1-8 and 2-4-8-1, etc.

It wasn’t for another year that they taught us multiplication and the “easy” way to figure the answer out.

(My father, the math teacher, will appreciate this blog post. Heehee.)

That’s why I love fashion. There are so many combinations that can be made.

I own a lot of clothes, but only enough to sometimes spill out of fill half of a closet and a dresser with my husband. Not that I mind repeating outfits, but making up new outfits is so much more fun that I rarely do.

Here are some ideas to easily change up an outfit:

-layer skirts or layer a skirt under a dress (see the last pic…this works really well on dresses that have shrunk)

-wear a shirt over a dress (like a sleeveless one)

-button & belt a cardigan instead of a shirt

-try different color combos

-roll up your jeans

-tuck in or pull out a shirt from your waistline

And never forget…

-change up your shoes and/or accessories (more on that later).

Now go make some new and fun outfits!

Happy Friday! 🙂

Growing Up

I am officially an adult.

It started out very innocently, just window shopping. And then we went in to look around.

I can’t help myself. When I walk by Banana Republic, I am compelled to go in and gawk.

We passed by some jackets and I felt it a necessity to try one on. It was PERFECT.

Sort of like a trench coat, but this had shape and wasn’t too long on me. It was the perfect weight (not too light or too heavy) and the fabric was SO soft. I really wanted it.

Thankfully I had a GAP gift certificate, since there is no way I would be able to afford it. (Did you know that you can use a Old Navy/GAP/Banana Republic gift card at any of the stores? I mean, I knew they were all under the same owner, but I had no idea the gift cards were interchangeable. How cool is that?!)

So, anyways, Banana Republic has always been my “grown up” store. I adore everything in the store, but gasp when I look at the prices, even the sales. But all the same, I hope/dream/wish on a star that SOMEDAY I will be able to resemble the mature, amazingly sophisticated mannequins.

Well, now that I’ve bought my BEAUTIFUL new jacket, I think I am officially on my way to being a grown up and I couldn’t be more pleased.

Happy Friday!

Summer Inspiration

School is out in our district, but I still have three weeks left of summer school to work. (Enter sad face here). Regardless, I am loving the long days and warm weather. And I am getting really excited for summer fashion! Here are some of my favorites:

1. SHORTS!!! Buy a knee-length pair and tuck a button-up shirt with a skinny belt and heels for a business casual look OR a flowy tank, blazer and shiny flats for evenings/weekends.

2. SKIRTS (I am still looking for the perfect maxi skirt because I don’t own one yet). Try tucking a fitted tank top into your waist, add a belt and you’ve got the perfect outfit for evening BBQs and potlucks.

3. DRESSES-Summer is wedding season and it’s the perfect outfit for hot weather.

Do you feel inspired? 😉 What items are you stoked about?

And just in case some of you think my life is super glamorous…

My youngest has an ear infection this week and we’ve been running on limited sleep. Bleh.

Happy Friday! 🙂
