To Make The Bed Or Not To Make The Bed?

I am a fairly neat person. I have the occasional messy room (my husband would argue my use of the word occasional) and weekly sweep/mop/dust/vacuum my house. I can-not-for-the-life-of-me get myself to make my bed. I walk into other people’s spotlessly clean abodes and marvel at how “model home-esque” it is and I know that a made bed is a big part of the complete picture, but I just can’t do it. I just don’t really see the point since I’m going to get right back in it in less than a day. When I know people are going to see my room, you can be darn sure my bed will be made though and I will feel like I’ve aced my SATs, won the lottery and saved an infant from a burning building all in the same day. It’s that kind of accomplished feeling. Maybe that’s why I’ll continue to savor it for special occasions. 😉

  1. It is actually better to not make the bed, at least right away, as it lets any residual moisture in the sheets and mattress air out. It is a huge part of having a room look tidy, as you’ve experienced yourself, but from a hygiene perspective, you’re actually doing the right thing!
