The Fox Sweater Saga

Our story begins with a picture posted by Leslie Padgett on her instagram. It was a picture of her and a friend wearing matching brown sweaters with a fox on the front.

I was immediately in love.

Let me preface this by saying, I don’t follow trends often. I prefer to wear what looks good on me and what I like, but I fell hard for this animal sweater trend. Perhaps because I’ve always had an inner longing to be Punky Brewster.

I asked Leslie where it was from and she said Old Navy. I quickly went online to get one and couldn’t find it listed anywhere.

A couple days later, I finally made it into the actual Old Navy store. After searching through the whole store, I asked an employee if this elusive sweater even exists.

She stated that yes in fact they had it, but there was only one left and it was in an extra-extra-large size.

I sadly looked at my other option, a sweater with an owl and took it to the register. I made small talk with the clerk and told her that I was settling for the owl sweater since they didn’t have the fox ones left.

She asked if I wanted her to search for it for me at another store. I dubiously said sure guessing that they would all be out since it was apparently super popular.

She made a phone call and found it at a different store, in my size and they covered the shipping cost sending it directly to my house!!

HURRAY! Major shout out to Denise at the Vista Old Navy store!

So… after all of that “drama”, the cute fox sweater is headed to my house soon. Maybe I should pair it with some rainbow knee socks. 😉

What trends have you fallen hard for lately?

Oh, and I also saw this hanging at the front of the store.

Of course, Taylor Swift is into animal sweaters. She knows what’s what. 😉

Happy Fashion Friday!

A Fashion Community

I love fashion because it is my palette. I am not a very good artist, but I LOVE to create. Fashion allows me to mix colors and patterns and has an endless amount of possibilities for creativity.

But the biggest reason I love fashion is the community that it creates.

Every woman can talk about something fashion related, whether they know a lot about fashion or very little. I love standing in a clothing store and having someone comment on what I’m holding. Fashion is an ice breaker and allows for conversations and relationships to begin.

I love sending texts to my friends of cute things I’m thinking of buying and getting their feedback. And most of all, I love when they trust me enough to send me pictures of their outfits and ask my opinion.

I would love to start a fashion community on this blog.

If you have an outfit/hairstyle that you are incredibly proud of, I ask you to send me a picture of it, so I can share in your joy/excitement. If you have questions about a piece of clothing/hairstyle and aren’t sure if it “works”, please send me a pic and I will gladly/gently give you my thoughts.

And if you’re okay with it, I would LOVE to put the pictures up on the blog to have other readers comment and affirm your choices. Because aren’t you so much more likely to wear/buy something if someone else tells you something like, “Oh, that color looks SO good on you!”

Let’s be friends!

My email is

and I’d love, love, love to have a fashion community with YOU!

Happy Friday, friend!

Chambray is to easy…

When I studied for the SATs in high school, I LOVED analogies.

I know…nerd alert.

So, here’s an analogy for you.

Chambray Shirt : Easy :: Calculus : Difficult

Okay, not my best effort, but you get the idea. Webster defines chambray as “a fine lightweight fabric woven with white threads across a colored warp”. I would define it as a “very soft, lighter denim”.

A chambray shirt is/should be a key staple in your wardrobe. It is incredibly versatile. In other words, it’s the new white button-up shirt.

Here’s why:

It looks great with jeans. Consider it a “classy Canadian tuxedo”. 😉

It can be worn over a maxi dress and tied at the waist. Perfect for taking those summer dresses into fall.

It looks amazing with corduroy.

It can also be worn with metallics.

It can be worn long and belted over a strapless dress or skirt.

It dresses down a fancy, sequin skirt.

It can be worn with any color skinny jeans.

So, did I convince you how awesome the chambray shirt is and how much you need one?

If you don’t have one yet, now’s the perfect time to ask for one for Christmas.

My chambray shirt is from Target, but I found some other options for you here, here, here and here. Or you can always scour your local Plato’s Closet or Goodwill.

Happy Friday!
