Fashion Friday

How was your Christmas?

Ours was a lovely four day celebration. You heard that right…FOUR DAY celebration, Sunday to Wednesday. It works out really nicely to have so many family members close by. We were able to see all our loved ones and spend quality time together.

I was even lucky enough to get some amazing presents, such as nail polish, a Plato’s Closet gift card (woohoo!),Β a purse, some leggings, a gorgeous necklace and even some designer Cynthia Rowley bandaids (who knew?!).

I’m so thankful to have be blessed with such a loving family that knows what I like.

Plus, I’m gonna have the chicest boo-boo’s around. πŸ˜‰

What were your favorite gifts that you received?

App Review: Pose

pose 5

I have had the app “Pose” for a couple months now, but didn’t even look at it until my dear sweet friend Courtney remarked to me that she was newly obsessed with it.

She then said that it was “like Pinterest but just fashion and kinda like Instagram”.

Well, as soon as she said that, I HAD to check it out.

First off, if she hadn’t said it was like Pinterest, I don’t think I would have understood the point of it (although they do send you an email with directions, but who really reads those anyways). πŸ˜‰

When you first use the app, it has you take a quiz to nail down your style likes and dislikes and it automatically has you follow people with similar style.

Just like Pinterest and Instagram (if you haven’t started a Pinterest or Instagram account yet, you need to get on board immediately), you scroll through square pictures of outfits that other Pose users have posted. Then if you find something you like, you easily “drag” it to the right where your “boards” are waiting.

This is perfect for saving pictures and using them as inspiration. You could have an “accessories” board, a “shoe” board, an “outfit” board or make a board for every season for year round inspiration. The names of the boards and how many you have are up to you.

There’s also the option of buying parts of the outfit straight from the picture. If you see a picture with a blue shopping bag logo in the bottom right then it contains a link to an item in that picture. How cool is that?!

(I’m in LOVE with that gold J.Crew bracelet!)

You can also post pictures of your own outfits, accessories or hairdos for others to use as their inspiration, just like Pinterest, but it seems like more people “like” other’s pictures more than they actually post. You can find me under “girlwiththesmile”.

For a completely free app, I highly suggest that you give Pose a try.

But careful, it’s highly addictive. πŸ˜‰

The Fox Sweater Saga

Our story begins with a picture posted by Leslie PadgettΒ on her instagram. It was a picture of her and a friend wearing matching brown sweaters with a fox on the front.

I was immediately in love.

Let me preface this by saying, I don’t follow trends often. I prefer to wear what looks good on me and what I like, but I fell hard for this animal sweater trend. Perhaps because I’ve always had an inner longing to be Punky Brewster.

I asked Leslie where it was from and she said Old Navy. I quickly went online to get one and couldn’t find it listed anywhere.

A couple days later, I finally made it into the actual Old Navy store. After searching through the whole store, I asked an employee if this elusive sweater even exists.

She stated that yes in fact they had it, but there was only one left and it was in an extra-extra-large size.

I sadly looked at my other option, a sweater with an owl and took it to the register. I made small talk with the clerk and told her that I was settling for the owl sweater since they didn’t have the fox ones left.

She asked if I wanted her to search for it for meΒ at another store. I dubiously said sure guessing that they would all be out since it was apparently super popular.

She made a phone call and found it at a different store, in my size and they covered the shipping cost sending it directly to my house!!

HURRAY! Major shout out to Denise at the Vista Old Navy store!

So… after all of that “drama”, the cute fox sweater is headed to my house soon. Maybe I should pair it with some rainbow knee socks. πŸ˜‰

What trends have you fallen hard for lately?

Oh, and I also saw this hanging at the front of the store.

Of course, Taylor Swift is into animal sweaters. She knows what’s what. πŸ˜‰
