Change.
Change is good. But it’s also super scary because it takes us out of our comfort zone and puts us into a new, possibly uncomfortable, place. Even if the change is for the better, it is still nerve-wracking.
But change is important to experience new things and to move us towards our best self. Especially in fashion.
Not changing can result in dating you. We’ve all seen that lady who is STILL rocking the Farah Fawcett haircut she had in high school.
Imagine if I kept wearing the same outfits I had in high school. Yikes. I changed from that silly, naive girl and will continue to grow and change as the years go by.
Last Friday, I got my bangs cut short by the lovely Jenni at Envision Salon. This scared me to death to do because I was afraid it would make me look like a twelve-year-old (or like Harriet from Small Wonder…remember that show?). I am super happy with the results and thankful I don’t resemble a jr. higher. š
I challenge you this week to do something that you’ve always wanted to do or admired someone else doing, but have always been too scared to do. I was inspired by Taylor Swift in one of her new videos.
Here are a list of things you could choose to do, if you find yourself lacking inspiration:
-wear a cardigan instead of a sweatshirt
-wear a pair of high heels
-wear a color you don’t often choose, perhaps something metallic
-wear a bold piece of jewelry
-buy some skinny jeans…and WEAR them!
-wear a blazer
-cut your hair shorter or get bangs (duh.)
-wear a dress/skirt a different length than you are used to (like a maxi dress or a mini skirt)
-wear a belt at your waist
-get highlights or dye your hair a different color
-wear ankle boots
-learn how to put your hair in a new hairstyle
-wear cowboy boots with shorts
-get a spray tan (Check out Raving Tans if you are in the area. Heather is the best!)
-wear bright pink or red lipstick
-wear fun color tights
Comment and let me know what you plan on doing. Let’s change TOGETHER!!
I’m going for #1. I like the dress and shoes. The jean jacket adds a little country. =)
Did I give you the yellow patent and red patent sandals? I thought only gave you the yellow ones and have been searching for the red. Guess that explains why I can’t find them. š
I’ve thought about boots with shorts, as well as leggings with shorts, but have not actually worn them yet. Always good to have something yet to try!
And I do have a new risk that I am taking with my delightful romper! I love it!
you are too cute!
love the ideas!
I love the wide leg linen pants in the last one! They are HOT on you!
Being a risk-taker in general, I’ve done everything on your list except Ankle Boots and Dye my Hair. Since I can’t rock any color on my hair other than my natural color (seriously…all other colors makes me looks AWFUL) maybe I’ll have to try out the ankle boots. š Gary hates them, but I LOVE them so I’ll just rock them when he’s not around…with my red lipstick that he also hates. Ha!
Great post! š Love you!
I am definitely feeling a change with my hair coming up soon!! Not really sure what I’m going to do yet, but I’m def ready
My chnge comes from my lifestyle. For a long time, my diet seems to have consisted primarily of sugar. Candy, lots and lots of
soda (im convinced my blood is made of soda at this point) and plenty of other junk foods and unhealthy snacks.
All this as well as constantly missing actual meals. I would always say “tomorrow I will eat better) but it never happened.
finally 3 weeks ago I decided I had enough. I have not had a soda, or candy ( I did have a mini golden spoon yesterday), cut down on
white breads and just try to look at everything I eat. Its not the change you speak of, but its a change, so im sharing it.
Rena, you are wonderful. I enjoy your blogs
