I took honors Spanish in high school and then two years in college. There was a time that I used to speak Spanish pretty well, but it is crazy how quickly you lose it when you don’t use it. Living in Southern California, Spanish is everywhere, so it would be really convenient if I was able to beef it up again. So…I am planning on taking Spanish next semester at my local community college in the Fall. Anyone wanna join me?

We have been in our house for almost seven years. Five of those years were spent gloriously ant free, but since last summer, we have been under attack. We put spray and poison out and it works for a couple days, but they always seem to come back with stronger and more persistent troops. The other day I woke up and my floor was literally black from their coverage. I’m starting to think the only way to combat them is to burn my house down. Ugh. Any tips or tricks? Although I feel like we’ve tried all of them…

That Elusive Number

Remember how I said my husband and I are racing to see who can get to 148 pounds first? Well, neither of us are there yet. It’s crazy how hard it is to get to a certain number. We have both been just a few pounds off for the last two and a half months. He even stepped on the scale the other day and while it was calculating it hit 148, but then evened out at 146. I weighed myself at night once at 149.2, but then when I woke up, I had gone up! What the heck?! It’s almost comical how ridiculous this contest has gotten.

Happy weekend!

I am so tired. I wake up in the morning and feel like I haven’t slept at all. I’m pretty sure my brain just won’t turn off. I woke up this morning with bags under my eyes for the very first time. I know that it’s common for people to get bags under their eyes, but somehow I have gone 33 years without ever having them. Ugh. Praying I can shut off my thoughts this weekend.

Safety Dance

I have a real problem. I see kids on the street all the time riding their bikes or skateboarding and NOT WEARING THEIR HELMETS! I know it’s against the law, but it’s also super dangerous. And the most annoying part is that I see so many of them with their helmet hanging on their handlebars or they are wearing it unbuckled. I seriously want to yell at them to protect their noggins or get their mom’s number, so I can give her a call and let her know how the helmet is not being utilized effectively. Bah!

Feel the Beat

I was on the dance team in high school for two years, Varsity cheer the next two years and then did numerous dance classes through college. Because of these countless years of learning dance routines, I ALWAYS can hear a 5-6-7-8 with every song I listen to. I will be driving along listening to the radio and am subconsciously counting off a 1 to 8 beat in my head. Does this happen to anyone else? I seriously would have thought that would have stopped by now. I also choreograph dances to do in the car, but that’s a story for another day. ;)

La Television

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever heard and one that I pass on to my students is:

“If you have to make small talk with someone and you have no idea what to say, ask them what television shows they watch.”

Because almost everybody watches TV and it is a great conversation starter.

So…what shows have you been watching? I can’t get enough TV. It’s bad. I’m loving the new show “Manhattan Love Story”. It’s super cute…kinda like watching a RomCom movie but spread out over episodes. I’ve also been watching my old shows like “Revenge”, “Once Upon A Time”, “Castle”, “Nashville” (I guess ABC has got me hook, line and sinker), “Reign”, “New Girl” and of course “Brooklyn 99”.
